[ SDCC: Day 1 ]
The 2013 Comic-Con International took place at San Diego Convention Center last month(7/18-7/21).
I was planning on uploading the photos earlier, but I've been in a state of lethargy over the past few weeks. :)Our first day at San Diego Comic-Con was not quite exciting...One of my acquaintances dropped her badge in a crowded area, and it was gone in less than five minutes. She had a 4-Day badge along with her 4-Day trolley pass attached to it. We headed to the lost-and-found booth, but it obviously wasn't there either. So we were pretty sure that the unscrupulous person who must have had found that badge either kept it to himself/herself or sold it to someone else. The frailty of human nature..... Well, that was not the end. She also dropped her smartphone a few hours later, and its screen was cracked. What a day! But, fortunately, the touchscreen and all the features still worked perfectly, so I guess she was in luck, if you choose to be more optimistic. :-) She did manage to get a replacement badge though. Anyway, the convention center was overcrowded on Thursday, and there were no interesting programs/panels to see on that particular day. Plus, it seemed as if most companies don't hand out their freebies/promo stuff on Thurdays. If you're attending SDCC for just one day, I recommend you to come either on Friday or Saturday since there usually are many exciting programs/panels scheduled for those days. Outside the convention center, there were a number of religious people holding signs and loudspeakers this year without exception. I wasn't surprised to hear many attendees complaining about their loud voices, and I saw a couple of guys yelling at them furiously. By the way, the event ends early on Sundays, which means that the Sunday badges are much cheaper. The comic-con exclusive items are also sold during the preview night (Wednesday), so you might want to check on those if you can. :-)
이제서야 코믹콘 사진들을 올립니다. 코믹콘에서의 첫날은 녹록지 않은 하루였습니다. 같이 간 지인 한 명은 실내에서 배지를 떨어뜨렸는데 5분이 채 안 된 상황에서 누군가가 잽싸게 집어갔는지 아무리 찾아도 없더군요. 분실물 취급소에 가봤는데도 없는 걸 보니 분명 배지를 주워간 비양심적인 인간이 배지를 자신이 사용하거나 누군가에게 팔아넘기든지 했을거란건 뭐 불을 보듯 뻔했죠. 4-Day 배지와 함께 4-Day 트롤리 전차 패스까지 함께 있었으니... 인간본성의 어두운 이면이란..... 하튼 지인은 몇 시간 뒤 스마트폰까지 떨어뜨려서 화면이 깨지는 일까지 겪었는데 터치스크린이며 기능은 제대로 되더군요. 고장이 날 수도 있는데 멀쩡하게 작동이 되니 낙관적으로 생각하면 오히려 운이 좋았다고 할 수 있겠죠. ^^ 배지는 다행히 다시 받을 수 있었습니다. 하튼 첫날 목요일은 인기있는 프로그램이나 패널도 없었고 컨벤션센터 내부는 인파로 붐비고 해서 그다지 즐길만한 날은 아니었습니다. 목요일에는 코믹콘에 참여한 회사/단체들이 판촉용 물품들을 거의 나누어주지 않는 듯했죠. 코믹콘에 하루만 오는 경우라면 지루한 목요일이나 썰렁한 일요일 보다는 볼만한 패널과 다양한 프로그램이 많은 금요일이나 토요일에 오는 편이 나을 듯합니다. ^^ 올해도 어김없이 특정 종교단체 사람들이 대형표지판과 확성기를 들고 하루종일 컨벤션센터 밖에서 설교를 하더군요. 큰 목소리로 확성기까지 동원해 이곳저곳에서 설교를 해대니 저 사람들 또 왔냐며 여기저기서 짜증 섞인 말들이 들려오고. 몇몇 사람들은 참다못해 시끄럽다며 고함을 내지르기도 하던데 말입니다. 참고로 일요일 이벤트는 일찍 끝나기 때문에 배지 가격이 더 저렴합니다. 프로페셔널 배지와 일반 4-DAY WITH Preview Night 배지를 소지한 경우 코믹콘에서만 판매하는 Exclusives 를 꼭 구입하고 싶다면 수요일 Preview Night 에 구입이 가능하면 미리 구입하는 것이 좋습니다. 상품 리스트는 코믹콘 사이트에서 미리 확인할 수 있습니다. 커벤션 센터 근처 호텔은 몇 달 전에 예약하는 것이 좋고 셔틀버스가 무료로 운행이 되니 호텔예약이 되어있다면 트롤리 패스를 따로 구입할 필요 없이 호텔 입구에서 셔틀버스를 이용할 수 있어서 편리한 점이 있습니다.
